My name is Gursharan and I am just starting as a naturopathic medical intern at the Robert Schad Naturopathic at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. There, I am honoured to learn from the doctors I work with when seeing patients. I also have the privilege of working with a licensed ND when seeing patients at the Brampton Naturopathic Teaching Clinic at Brampton Civic Hospital. I have been looking forward to this year of interning since I began at CCNM in 2017. After three years of rigorous study, I am excited to start the next step in my training to becoming a naturopathic doctor.
I came to CCNM from York University where I received my Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and Health Sciences. I initially became interested in naturopathic medicine when I was in high school, reading about medical ethics. I had planned on going to medical school so that I could eventually become a surgeon. But it was in reading about the ethics that guided MD’s and how they practice, that I knew it didn’t align with my goals and values. I knew that I wanted to help people reach their health goals without causing adverse effects in the process.
I am eager to work with licensed ND's to integrate evidence based Eastern and Western medicine to help patients reach their health goals. I aspire to educate patients about their bodies so they can make decisions that are best for them financially, mentally, physically and spiritually. By combining medications with lifestyle counseling, dietary changes and the best Eastern Medicine has to offer, everyone can optimize their health and live healthier and richer lives.
